DO NOT THROW TOWELS AND SANITORY PADS INTO TOILET BOWLS

Since yesterday evening, a ground floor shop had a flooded toilet. Sewage water from ten floor office toilets was discharged into the common 100mm diameter sewage pipe before draining into the main sewage system.

Due to a clogged pipe at the lower ground floor bend, sewage water cannot flow out into the sewage drain, causing a water back flow into the toilet of the shop .

At least 4 inches of foul water flooded the toilet space.

Your JMB has to engaged a plumbing company to rectify the problem. As the sewage piping was located in the mainswitch board room, there was an element of safety concern.

The contractor has to open up the manhole cover and unclog the pipe manually. Luckily, they managed to solve and unclog the pipe.

A towel was found to be the cause of the blockage. Someone from one of the 10 toilets sharing this common sewage line has flushed down the towel causing the clog at the bend of the pipe.

This job is expensive but has to be rectified immediately before further damage is done. In the future, we propose the cost to unclog the pipe must be shared out equally by offices/shop sharing this sewage line. Lessons were learned and we appeal to tenants NOT to flush down towels etc. which can cause blockages. Your cooperation is appreciated.
